Captain Blackbird
It all started as an idea, a wild one. No other security company has done it. But it just clicked for us. Captain Blackbird. We thought it would be an excellent idea to have someone that represent the friendly side of a stoic and intimidating industry like security, someone who can be the new face of Blackbird Security. So, Captain Blackbird was born.

Ideation Process
My first steps was to draft up a sketch and size to see his overall physique and build.

I began to sketch by hand to measure his sizing and look.
Then I digitally illustrate his first pose which was based on an actual mascot that was sold. This was done so that its easier for us to find a vendor that would create a physical mascot. We decided with the color blue even though his name is "Blackbird" because a black colored bird mascot would look too intimidating and might not be too visible at night when fitted with a black vest, black pants, and boots.
Final Design
To add better depth to Captain Blackbird's character I illustrated his growth in one of our social media posts.
As we intended to use him in many digital marketing collaterals, we want to create other expressions and poses of Captain Blackbird. While the physical costume would suffice, we want to utilize the 2D illustration to give him that versatility and variation of being in two forms of media, digital and physical.
Public Unveiling
For the external launch, me alongside the digital marketing lead created a month long campaign where we dedicate a social media post of Captain Blackbird every week. We released varios forms of media, like videos, comic illustrations and even partnerships.
